Portumna is famous for its fishing centre and marina for Lough Derg and the Shannon and has golf (18) and tennis. Portumna Forest Park is 2 km from the town. This wildlife sanctuary of one thousand acres borders Lough Derg and has a laid out nature trail. Local amenities include, Fishing, Watersports, Go Karting, Forest Walks and Pitch and Putt.
